My name is Luis Ramirez, and I am the founder of Fruitland Construction, L.L.C. and CoQuity.com. I am a first-generation honors sophomore college student at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business, double majoring in Accounting and Information Systems with a Lassonde + X certificate. I am in Business Scholars and First Ascent Scholars, and qualified for the Dean’s list from Fall 2019 to Fall 2020 with a 3.963 cumulative gpa. I am passionate about affordable housing because my family had to move from California to Utah when I was 7 due to the high cost of living in California. Looking back, it was a blessing in disguise, and I would not be here today if it were not for my Mexican and Salvadoran immigrant parents that sacrificed so much for me. I truly believe this business idea can solve the affordable housing crisis, and if I win this Utah Entrepreneurship Challenge, I can use the proceeds to further develop my website, build relationships with mortgage lenders and real estate vendors, turn renters into owners, and help households build generational wealth through co-operative housing and real estate equity.
